As someone who has many relatives living in the Middle Eastern part of the world, I can positively say that some of my relatives who are women are treated less than human. And even outside of places like that, we still have people treating genders less than others for horrible reasons. And on a lower scale, we also have gender stereotypes. An example I have is with colors because apparently I can't wear pink masks because I am a boy. Then we also have personality stereotypes, hobby stereotypes, and a bunch more. Treating someone or assuming something of a person strictly because of their gender needs to stop.

One day in P.E some boys would not let girls play the sport and would just tell the girls to stand and do nothing . So the girls decided to not participate. The teacher found out and did nothing. Also, it makes us feel why try if we are treated differently and not equal to others. Back in the day in other places girls were not allowed to do sports or engineering or etc. History repeats itself for a reason.

Stories from Our Community
My mom used to work at my Old Middle School! She my mom also happens to be in the LBGTQ+ community and there were students at my school that knew that. Some students used to pick on me, not harshly but still, on me for having a mom that was in that community. It definitely made me feel uncomfortable at times. I have never thought of my mom as someone who was doing anything wrong but the students would still pick on me for that. I used to be self-conscious about my mom, but the older I have gotten the less and less I worry about it and today I celebrate the fact that my mom is who she is. Love you Mom!

My stepdad always tells me to stay in my place whenever I try to do something "that's for boys." He expects me to wash all the clothes and clean all the dishes while he just sits down and watches TV and I don't think it's fair because a lot of times he treats me and my mom like objects.

It took me a few years to figure out I was agender. I just never really cared what gender I was and was never comfortable being in my current body. I don't face much harassment for it because I've only come out to a couple of friends I trust. But even without telling anyone my mom still makes a lot of comments like "You're a girl not a guy so stop acting like one" "Girls can't wear 'guys clothing'" "You're a girl so you have to wear dresses. You want to look good and catch the attention of guys right?" She basically expects me to wear makeup, dresses, keep my hair long, and wear things that I'm not comfortable in (short or revealing clothing). My dad doesn't really comment on it but I'm closer to him. So for a while I was planning on telling him I was agender but after a comment I made about someone having they/them pronouns and being non-binary he said that kids these days were strange. So neither of them really know anything about other genders or believe it to be right I guess.
